Radish: Body Benefits

Body benefits

Why radish helps

What is in radish, and what those nutrients and plant compounds do in the body.

Phytonutrients

Radish is broccoli's cruciferous cousin. Its sprouts are packed with isothiocyanates, mainly sulforaphene, and in a side-by-side comparison radish sprouts had the highest glucosinolate and isothiocyanate content of the broccoli, kale, and radish sprouts tested. These compounds work on the same antioxidant-defense pathway as broccoli's sulforaphane, which is why we pair the two.

Micronutrients

Radish microgreens stand out for vitamin E. Among 25 microgreens analyzed, green daikon radish had the highest tocopherol (vitamin E) levels. Radish also contributes vitamin C.
