Onion
Onion sprouts bring a sharp, sweet bite and the sulfur compounds onions are known for. Sprout-specific research is still thin, so we keep our claims narrow.
What the research shows
An extract made from onion sprouts showed anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity; onion sulfur compounds slowed the movement of human white blood cells in the lab.

Keep in mind: Most of this review covers onion bulbs. Only the extract line is about sprouts, and it tested a distillate, not the whole fresh sprout.
How we cite: we only reference peer-reviewed studies, and we label each one by type. Lab and animal studies explain how a compound works; they do not show the same result in people. These fresh foods support a healthy lifestyle and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Talk with your healthcare provider before starting a raw-sprout routine if you are pregnant, immunocompromised, or managing a medical condition.
